Susquehanna Bass Association

The Susquehanna Bass Association is a bass club based in Oneonta, NY. We have approximately 70 members from across the central New York region. The club was formed in 1987, and fishes regular bass tournaments every week or two from June through the end of October. We fish in two-person teams, usually with a five-fish limit.

Latest news

The Art and Nate VanSteenburg Memorial Classic was held on Otsego Lake, October 16-17. Conditions were tough, with some commenting that they had never seen Otsego Lake as rough as it was on Saturday. That, together with torrential rain, resulted in a challenging day. Sunday wasn't much better with colder temperatures and more rain, but at least the wind was tolerable. Despite the conditions most of the 25 teams managed to bring 5-fish limits to the scales both days.

The tournament was won by Frank Microni and Steve Llewellyn who a good bag the first day and an impressive 17.6 lb limit of largemouths the second day, including Steve's 4.59 lb laremouth that was the big fish of the tournament, for a two-day total of 31.01 lb. See results and standings for more details.

That wraps up the 2021 season. Hopefully we'll be able to have a banquet this year, depending on what happens with Covid. Check back for news on that, and watch your email for details.

Anglers of the Year, 2021

Sponsored by Empire Toyota

Congratulations to Jim O'Brien and Jim O'Brien, Jr., Susquehanna Bass Association Anglers of the Year. They had a total of 122.61 lb. (after dropping their lowest two weights). Their impressive season included three first place finishes. They also placed second once, third three times, and ended the three-season streak of Matt and Rich Ford (who came in second this year, only 10 lb. behind the O'Briens).
