The Susquehanna Bass Association is a bass club based in Oneonta, NY. We have approximately 70 members from across the central New York region. The club was formed in 1987, and fishes regular bass tournaments every week or two from June through the end of October. We fish in two-person teams, usually with a five-fish limit.

The Art and Nate VanSteenburg Memorial Classic was held October 19-20. The first day was on Otsego Lake and the second day was on Canadarago Lake. Both days started cold, but warmed up to give us two days of excellent weather, and pretty good fishing. Nineteen teams competed and most had a limit on the first day. The second day was a bit tougher, with only about half managing a five-fish limit. The tournament was won by Josh Shaffer, fishing alone, with 10 fish weighing 33.67 lb. Bill Smith, also fishing alone, finished second just 0.32 lb behind Josh.

Congratulations to Hunter and Lynn Baciuska, Susquehanna Bass Association Anglers of the Year, with a total of 143.72 lb for their best eight tournaments. In second place, Kevin McGibney was just 1.3 lb behind them. Hunter and Lynn had an outstanding year with two first place finishes (Mohawk River and Goodyear), a second place (Onondaga), and they were in the top half of the standings in each of the other tournaments. In addition, they weighed in 5-fish limits in all ten tournaments, and all 50 fish were released alive.
